About This Blog

I grew up very Protestant. It’s hard to describe the exact type of church I grew up in, because there were several, and they were all very different from each other. Many of the churches I attended were Baptist, and I went to multiple Baptist schools, so calling myself a Baptist would be kind of a close approximation. But Baptist churches can have a lot of variances too.

So keep that in mind when you read my stuff. When I talk about Fundamentalists, or Baptists, or Protestants, I’m not meaning it in a general way necessarily.  I mean specifically the things I grew up learning and believing.

I write to help myself deal with my feelings – from confusion, desolation, shame, fear, doubt, and sadness, to joy, thoughtfulness, empathy, hope, and faith. Writing is my catharsis, my way of purging my emotions.

I created Catholic Lite because I wanted a place where I could explore my feelings about my past dealings with the Protestant Church, and my current journey into the Catholic Church, and I wanted to be able to share this journey with people from all walks of life, and from all types of religious backgrounds. And I chose to call it Catholic Lite, not because my topics are light, but but because my goal is to present them in a “lite” way. I know that on my journey into the Church, the best sources I’ve found are those that present the truth as clearly and concisely as possible – so that’s my goal!

I do my best to respond to comments! I absolutely love, love, love getting feedback.
